Biography

Andre Monteiro is a Brazilian tattoo artist, draftsman, and visual artist whose journey in art began early in life. Born in a small town in the countryside of São Paulo, Brazil, he quickly stood out for his exceptional drawing skills, earning recognition in school for his natural talent and dedication to art.

Driven by a passion for mastery, Andre deepened his artistic training through classical oil painting, developing strong foundations in realism, composition, and classical technique. His pursuit of artistic knowledge later led him to study Visual Arts at university in the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil.

It was during the final stage of his academic journey that Andre discovered tattooing — a moment that would completely transform his path. Fascinated by the idea of turning art into something permanent and deeply personal, he dedicated himself fully to the craft.

Over the years, Andre built a solid career as a tattoo artist, working professionally for more than two decades and participating in numerous tattoo conventions and competitions. His work has been recognized and awarded in several categories, including Realism, Black & Grey, Portrait, and Oriental.

After spending 12 years tattooing in Campo Grande, where he ran his own studio, Andre felt the call for a new chapter. Seeking to connect with the roots and traditions of tattooing, he moved to Japan — the Land of the Rising Sun.

Today, he works in a studio specialized in Tebori and Wabori, learning and working alongside respected artists dedicated to preserving the ancient traditions of Japanese tattooing. His work blends classical artistic foundations with the discipline, precision, and philosophy that define Japanese craftsmanship.

Each tattoo created by Andre carries the belief that tattooing is more than decoration — it is a memory, a story, and a moment in life permanently etched into the skin.
